Artist Lesley Sutton has been working with women in the Eccles Yemeni community to create images and stories reflecting their own lives and experiences.
‘Sana’a to Salford’ is a photo book that tells the story of a Yemeni womans life in Salford using pictures taken in homes and during our workshop sessions over the course of a year. Chapters include childhood, home life, cooking, traditional dress, birth and wedding traditions.
Lesley also made a video called ‘Through My Eyes’ using video footage and photographs taken during the creative reminiscence workshops and visits to some of the ladies homes.
